Barcodes & inventory
Make a barcode easier to scan
Protect contrast, quiet space, size, and print quality around the symbol.
Barcodes need a clean contrast between bars and background and enough clear space around the symbol. Very small prints, low-resolution output, glossy glare, wrinkles, and ink smearing can all make scanning harder. Do not cover the symbol with tape that reflects light.
Test with the scanner and software used in your actual workflow. Verify both the scanned value and the printed human-readable digits. Use the barcode format required by your carrier, retailer, or inventory system rather than assuming all scanners accept the same format.
